Opus & Sinus 2023: Application Phase Started

The application phase has started: Companies and professionals from the event industry can now apply for the "Sinus - Systems Integration Award 2023" and the "Opus - German Stage Award 2023". The awards are traditionally presented at Prolight + Sound.

Application for the Sinus Award

For more than a decade, the "Sinus - Systems Integration Award" has been an important sign of recognition for the pioneering use of AV media technology and systems integration solutions. It is awarded in alternating categories. The non-endowed honorary award is presented annually at Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt am Main. Personalities and companies from the industry can submit their projects to the Sinus expert jury and apply for the established award.

The jury and board of trustees of the award are made up of members of the Verband für Medien- und Veranstaltungstechnik e.V. (VPLT), the Europäischer Verband der Veranstaltungs-Centren e. V. (EVVC), industry experts, media representatives and Messe Frankfurt staff; they select the most impressive projects from all the entries.

In 2022, the "Bassins de Lumières" received the Sinus Award for particularly creative and artistic achievements and solutions in the use of technology in audiovisual installations.

Application for the "Opus - German Stage Prize

In addition to the Sinus, the "Opus - German Stage Prize" will also be awarded again in 2023. The Opus rewards creative and innovative use in theatre, stage and open-air productions. Thus, the award, which has been presented annually at Prolight + Sound since 2002, is considered one of the most important awards in the industry. Original projects, productions and creative minds in the field of stage design can apply now. This year, therefore, two projects were honoured with the "Opus". Firstly, the "Dionysos Stadt Open Air", which in the summer of 2021, with a lot of courage and an impressive backdrop, made art and cultural experiences possible for a larger audience while adhering to all restrictions, received the award. Secondly, the creators of the project "Woodkid @ ZDF Magazin Royal" were honoured with the award.

A jury of industry experts from business, associations, trade publications and representatives of Messe Frankfurt honours new, outstanding approaches to the creative use of technology. The sponsors of the non-endowed honorary award are the Association for Media and Event Technology (VPLT), the European Association of Event Centres (EVVC) and Messe Frankfurt GmbH.

The Opus rewards the creative and innovative use of event technology in projects such as:

  • theatre and stage productions
  • concerts and tours
  • conferences and corporate events
  • city festivals and open-air events

Here you can submit your projects to the Opus expert jury and apply for the established award. The deadline for applications is 30 November 2022.
