Plans for Prolight + Sound 2015 are already in top gear. The first big new attraction for the upcoming year: from April 15th to 18th, Prolight will be accompanied in Frankfurt by SHOWTECH. In future, lighting, sound, and events and stage technology will be joined by theatre and film in a big way.
The organisers are expecting a host of new exhibitors and trade visitors from the fields of stage technology and requisites. A new addition comes in the form of film industry careers, previously represented at SHOWTECH in Berlin. The first confirmations have already come in, from the Society of Theatre Costumiers (Gesellschaft der Theaterkostümschaffenden e. V.) and the Federal Society of Film Industry Associations (Bundesvereinigung der Filmschaffenden-Verbände e. V.).
“We are proud of the fact that in future, the Trade Fair Frankfurt exhibition grounds will be host to an even more complete reflection of the branch. We are going to – quite literally – prepare the perfect stage for a more complete ensemble of professions from the world of film and theatre,” said Cordelia von Gymnich, Vice President Consumer Goods & Entertainment at Trade Fair Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH. “We’ll offer a fantastic programme for visitors from the theatre world, we’ll be extending the successful film and theatre symposium, and with a tailor-made Quickfinder guide to exhibitors related to SHOWTECH, we want to underline the importance that this new area has for Prolight + Sound.”
This new united front has also met with appreciation from the trade associations: “Even before, SHOWTECH was a major get-together for everyone connected to the industry – from tailors, wardrobe masters, and costume designers, to shoemakers and milliners,” said Angelika Laubmeier from the Society of Theatre Costumiers. Regine Hergersberg, from the Confederation of German Film Industry Associations, added: “Combing an event like Prolight + Sound with SHOWTECH demonstrates how much the individual branches are dependent on each other, and not just that, but also how much they can benefit from each other in mastering common challenges.”
