The future of Prolight + Sound is taking a new direction. Following intensive discussions and comprehensive reviews, it has been decided that the event will no longer be held at the Frankfurt venue. The reason for this is the lack of demand for a separate Prolight + Sound themed area within the upcoming Light + Building 2026. Messe Frankfurt has held numerous discussions with exhibitors and industry partners in recent weeks. It has become clear that a separate area cannot offer the expected added value, neither for companies nor for visitors.
International formats are gaining in importance
Despite this decision, the Prolight + Sound brand remains a fixed and important part of the international trade fair portfolio. It is already clear how strong the global demand for professional event, lighting and audio technology is. With the newly announced Prolight + Sound Bangkok from 2026 and the continued growth of Prolight + Sound Guangzhou – most recently with more than 2,200 exhibitors and around 110,000 trade visitors – the brand continues to develop very dynamically worldwide.
Some exhibitors who were offered a space in the Prolight + Sound area of Light + Building have already decided to exhibit directly in the corresponding product areas of Light + Building in future. There they will reach target groups such as architecture and lighting design offices, building technology and electrical installation specialists and facility management experts. Participation in Light + Building thus opens up new synergies in related sectors.
The blog will continue to exist and develop
Even though Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt will no longer take place in future, the official Prolight + Sound blog will remain fully intact. What’s more, it will be further expanded and will increasingly focus on international topics, global market trends and the worldwide formats of the Prolight + Sound brand. This will ensure that the community remains well informed about innovations, technologies, best practices and events from the international entertainment technology industry.
The blog will therefore remain a central source of knowledge and inspiration for the community of professionals, manufacturers, rental companies, planners and creatives. It will also play an even more important role in Prolight + Sound’s international brand communication.
