3D Mapping: Events in a new dimension

It is the perfect illusion that has been fascinating people since the beginning of time. First it was the magician, now it is the technological refinements at the highest level. 3D belongs to the trends of the future, as Prolight + Sound has continually shown. This find from the Bot & Dolly design studios shows another fascinating insight into three dimensional technologies.
The process is called texture mapping wherein deceptively real 3D animation can be created. The video was made as an artistic statement and technical demonstration. The creators used various technologies including large scale robotics, projection mapping and software engineering. The result is extremely impressive. Take a look for yourself!

Whether in the cinema or in the theatre, with sound or projection, 3D is versatile and for just that reason, fascinating. In the event industry, it is used for exceptional effects and is therefore always a key player at Prolight + Sound. In 2012 the premiere of the Fraunhofer IDMT 3D-Audio-Toolkit with its surround sound in a new dimension was celebrated. Recently, Musion System’s 3-D-Hologramm-Technology created quite a sensation. With this device, it is theoretically possible to have deceased artists come back to life on stage. It is the perfect illusion. In general today it is possible to plan entire events with the help of  3D-technology. We will surely be hearing more about 3D mapping in the future.
