The team at Messe Frankfurt spend all year realizing a successful experience for the exhibitors at Prolight + Sound. This team includes Monica Prager, who is one of the first points of contact for new and returning exhibitors at the trade fair. In the short interview below, the sales agent shares her years of experience in this area.
1. Which areas are you tasked with at Messe Frankfurt?
Monica Prager: I’m responsible for the acquisition of new clients as well as serving key accounts, returning clients, partners within the industry, and the professional associations. At the same time, I organize the layout of the halls and work with colleagues to develop marketing concepts. In addition, I produce offers and invoice the exhibitor’s stands. My everyday job also includes visiting and analyzing the competing events in order to keep an overview of the competition.
2. You have daily contact with exhibitors in your position as sales agent. What part of your work do you consider the most exciting?
Monica Prager: I enjoy having contact with clients from all over the world. This gives me the opportunity to use my language skills.
I think it’s particularly interesting how the trade fair landscape has changed over the years and what roll Prolight + Sound has taken on in the meantime. It’s also fascinating to experience how our fair has continued to develop. I can still remember doing acquisition of foreign clients for Prolight + Sound. I often encountered perplexed expressions because no one knew about the fair.
3. What’s the greatest challenge in your job?
Monica Prager: Many of our clients would like to be placed next to their partners. This is often the case with German operations who would like to have their producers grouped around them. However, every client has different stand size and formats. The goal of fitting these wishes in the hall layout and fulfilling the technical demands is certainly one of the greatest challenges. If this step succeeds, then the exhibitor satisfaction increases enormously – and also makes me happy.
