Every year, the moving.picture.pavilion, a shared stand with over 20 manufacturers from the broadcast branch, is packed with innovation and technological highlights from the field. Here, trade visitors can be comprehensively informed about the entire production and distribution processes in the video world.
We talked to Steffen Schenk, COO at Teltec AG, co-organiser of moving.picture.pavilion, about this year’s preparation.

Redaktion: What special highlights await the visitors at the Moving Picture Pavilion?

Steffen Schenk: It will surely be very interesting for the entertainment industry that nearly every showcase is available in full 4K quality.
The drones and camera systems from DJI are an additional highlight. Anyone who is interested can find out for themselves the added value aerial footage can give to live events.

Redaktion: Speaking of drones: how can this technology be used effectively in the broadcast industry?

In the broadcast branch we are currently experiencing how consequently a “new perspective” can improve produced content. By now, very few producing documentary, fictional or live events want to do without this flexible and now thoroughly affordable tool.

Redaktion: Which challenges do event organisers have to overcome with live streaming?

Steffen Schenk: In principle the details of the challenges are completely different, depending on the application scenario.
However, there are naturally several basics that have to be sorted in any case: for example, the data connection of the event location and the particular challenges in regards to latency.

Redaktion: What do the highlights look like in regards to camera technology?

Steffen Schenk: Numerous highlights from all areas of camera technology can be viewed at the stand. Canon, Panasonic and Sony will display their current 4K live camera and camcorder line ups. Blackmagic Design will bring along the URSA Mini 4.6K and the Micro Studio Kamera 4K. And ARRI will show how their large sensor camera will also be deployable as a live camera in the future.

Redaktion: What are you looking forward to in particular at Prolight + Sound?

Steffen Schenk: To the many interested visitors who always come with completely new ideas and want to use our technologies in completely new scenarios! It’s an exciting new experience every year.
