The event industry is looking to the future with confidence. Prolight + Sound 2022 was the first major reunion of the event industry after a two-year break.
Voices on the successful #restart of the trade fair
From April 26 to 29, the exhibition halls in Frankfurt were the meeting place for the industry and the venue for all kinds of product innovations. Around 20,000 visitors from 93 countries were able to experience various lighting, effects and sound shows from the exhibitors live and gather the latest technological trends and valuable insights for a successful business.
“Prolight + Sound not only presented many impressive technologies to the public for the first time, but also provided decisive impetus on how the industry can equip itself for the challenges of the present and the future,” says Wolfgang Marzin, CEO, Messe Frankfurt.
We are delighted that this year’s Prolight + Sound was a great #restart, despite the uncertainties that existed just a few months ago. Exhibitors and visitors were hot for product innovations and personal encounters at the show. This is also reflected in the show’s sales figures.
“The trade fair is therefore the ideal starting point to regain important trust in and for our industry in the future,” says Linda Residovic, Managing Director of the Association for Media and Event Technology (VPLT).
Timo Feuerbach, Managing Director of the European Association of Event Centers (EVVC) adds: “Prolight + Sound has reopened the trade show floor nationally and internationally and given the ‘go-ahead’ for the entire event industry. Especially the elementary industry topics of the lack of personnel and skilled workers, training and further education as well as sustainability could again be personally debated and intensively addressed for the future.”
Product launches and lots of show – what was going on at Prolight + Sound
The fact that the companies in the entertainment industry were not idle during the long forced break was proven by the numerous product launches as well as shows created especially for the trade fair at the exhibitors’ stands.
At the newly created Future Hub, companies were able to establish contacts with newcomers to the industry as well as specialists. Proof that trade fairs are also being used as an opportunity for recruiting new employees in times of a shortage of skilled workers.
At the “Race for Talents”, representatives of educational institutions, associations and companies discussed training initiatives, career scenarios, new learning formats and the attractiveness of the industry for women with visitors.
Green future for the industry
Another important theme at Prolight + Sound was the commitment to a greener future for the event industry. As a result, the show featured many innovations with particularly high energy efficiency, solutions for reducing transportation, and products made from environmentally friendly materials. On the “Green Event Day”, industry experts explored the impact of the EU Green Deal on the event industry in a series of presentations on sustainable events and presented strategies for saving natural resources.
The next Prolight + Sound will take place from April 25 to 28, 2023 in Frankfurt / Main.
As an international trade fair brand, Prolight + Sound is present with events in Germany, China and Dubai.
