What do world tours, theatre stages and theme parks have in common? They all need precise control systems to stage moving elements safely, synchronised and spectacularly. And this is exactly where Taits epiQ Mini Console comes in. Whether as the mobile centrepiece of small productions or as a reliable backup solution for large shows: the epiQ Mini Console shows that powerful control technology doesn’t have to be large in size – but it can certainly look big.
Complex shows, compactly controlled: What is the epiQ Mini Console?
At Prolight + Sound 2025, Tait presented the epiQ Mini Console, a product that takes the control of complex stage automation to a new, compact level. The Mini Console is part of the larger epiQ ecosystem, which specialises in precise, reliable and scalable control solutions for live events. Whether a concert tour, theatre production or theme park show – the epiQ Mini Console offers control and overview in the smallest of spaces.
Developed for iQ: Intuitive, familiar, proven
The epiQ Mini Console is specially tailored to the requirements of the iQ platform. Thanks to its user-friendly interface, it can be operated quickly – a plus for operators worldwide who already rely on this system.
Powered by TAIT Navigator
Inside is the proven TAIT Navigator automation platform – for full compatibility with the entire TAIT ecosystem and maximum control performance at a professional level.
Compact design, easy to transport
Measuring 582.4 mm x 480.6 mm (approx. 15.86 × 18.92 inches) and weighing just 14 kg (31 lbs), the console is ideal for mobile applications, touring or technical setups with limited space.
Two integrated touchscreens
The user interface is optimised for direct access: Two built-in touchscreens enable intuitive interaction with the iQ control environment – without external peripherals.
Control without additional hardware
Depending on the system architecture, the epiQ Mini Console can control up to six axes directly – without any additional controllers. This makes it particularly suitable for compact setups with a high functional depth.
Two freely assignable control channels
The console offers two individually assignable channels for maximum flexibility when creating cues – ideal for precise motion sequences in real time.
Cue block programming
Customised sequences can be easily created and run – even complex motion sequences can be easily implemented in the cue block system.
Integrated I/O interfaces
On board as standard: inputs and outputs for timecode and show control applications. No external modules are required – a true all-in-one device for professional show automation.
Technical features of the epiQ Mini Console
The epiQ Mini Console is more than just a ‘little sister’ to larger show desks. It has many features that are also used in large-format control centres from Tait:
- Touchscreen operation: An intuitive user interface provides quick access to all functions. The touchscreens are bright, robust and optimised for live use.
- Buttons and encoders: For precise control and tactile feedback, the console offers keypads, rotary controls and multifunctional user interfaces.
- Integration with TAIT Navigator: The Mini Console works seamlessly with the well-known TAIT Navigator control software – the heart of many shows worldwide.
- Network integration: Thanks to the Ethernet connection, the console can be easily integrated into existing infrastructures and synchronised with other control units.
- Scene management and playback: The console enables the programming, saving and running of complex movement sequences – ideal for moving stage sets, trusses, lifts and more.
Who is the epiQ Mini Console designed for?
The target group for the epiQ Mini Console ranges from tour productions and theatres to theme parks and studios. It is particularly suitable for:
- Automation technicians looking for a compact, powerful control console
- Production companies working with mobile control solutions
- Event venues with limited space for technical equipment
- Rental companies that want to have a versatile control console in their portfolio
Advantages over conventional consoles
Compared to larger automation consoles or purely PC-based solutions, the epiQ Mini Console impresses with a combination of mobility, robustness, scalability and user-friendliness. It is easy to transport and can be flexibly integrated into a wide variety of setups – a clear advantage for mobile productions and changing locations. Its construction is designed for daily live operation and can also withstand high loads. At the same time, it can be used both as a stand-alone control unit and as part of more complex systems. The clear user interface and intuitive operation enable quick familiarisation – ideal for productions with changing operators or tight time frames.
Why Tait relies on compact solutions
Tait Towers is internationally renowned for its large-scale show structures, complex stage technology and customised control solutions. With the epiQ Mini Console, however, the company is responding to a growing need: compact control consoles that are easy to transport, take up little space and still offer full functionality for modern shows.
Especially in touring productions, where space and weight play a major role, the epiQ Mini Console offers clear advantages. It can be easily integrated into flight cases and enables complete control workstations to be set up even in small FOH areas or backstage zones.
Small, but Tait
With the epiQ Mini Console, Tait is expanding its portfolio with a tool that fits perfectly into today’s event reality: Flexible, space-saving, powerful. In combination with TAIT Navigator and other epiQ components, a system is created that can be scaled from a small club to a huge stadium project.
Anyone planning modern stage automation will hardly be able to avoid the epiQ Mini Console in future – especially if mobility, precision and ease of use are decisive criteria.
