Photography, film and now also AI-generated images are key elements that move the world. The dynamics of our time and the pulsating life in all its facets can be depicted particularly impressively in moving images. These will be emphasised at the upcoming Prolight + Sound in the newly created Image Creation Hub. The centrepiece of the Hub is the Speakers Area, designed in the style of a television studio.
Three pillars of the Image Creation Hub: Exhibition, Education, Networking
The Image Creation Hub serves as a central contact point for television cameramen and offers first-class workshops, exhibitions, lectures and talks in a special area. This was created and realised in cooperation with the Bundesverband der Fernsehkameraleute e.V. (BVFK). In three main areas – the Exhibition Area, Education and Networking – the hub will highlight the television camera industry from different perspectives.
In the Exhibition Area, well-known manufacturers will present their latest products and technical innovations. Visitors can exchange ideas with experts, talk shop and obtain information. Exhibitors include aiconix, Beyond Frames, Birds Camera Solutions GmbH, blackcam, Canon EMEA, Dedo Weigert Film GmbH, Faderlux, machen & tun Medienproduktion und -Dienstleistungen GmbH, Pensionskasse, RA Tobias Sommer, r-t-s.tv, SIGMA (Deutschland) GmbH, Sony, SUMOLIGHT GmbH, TELTEC AG, video-machinery GmbH and VRFF Die Mediengewerkschaft BG Freie.
In the newly established Camera College in Hall 11.0 (room Karmesin), short 90-minute seminars will be held daily. These offer insights into the activities in front of and behind the camera and are led by the experienced lecturers Nils Jahnke, picture director, vMix operator and lecturer for audiovisual media professions, and Helmut Wagenpfeil, cameraman and BVFK-certified lecturer for camera technology and image design. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
Three times a day (11.00 a.m. / 12.00 p.m. / 1.00 p.m.), the Speakers Area, designed in the look of a television studio, will offer short workshops and presentations by renowned experts. Topics such as lighting design, automatic tracking systems, broadcast cameras, Infinity Lighting, SUMO-SKY as well as Steadycam and Polecam guidance will be covered here. The BVFK panel will discuss current industry topics on a daily basis, including the role of artificial intelligence and women in the film and television industry.
Finally, the networking area offers the opportunity for professionals and interested parties to meet, exchange ideas and make new contacts every day from 5.00 pm.
BVFK: New perspectives for the event industry
Frank Trautman, First Chairman of the BVFK, emphasises the growing importance of the event industry for the members of his association. He emphasises that Prolight + Sound has been the leading trade fair in this sector for years. With its presence at the trade fair, the BVFK aims to create a forum in which broadcasters and television producers can present common topics effectively and clearly. Trautman emphasises the special opportunity for trade fair visitors to be introduced to camera and lighting technology directly by experts, which makes Prolight + Sound an ideal place to promote the profession of television cameramen. He emphasises that the combination of artistic, technical and journalistic skills makes this profession unique.
Mira Wölfel, Director of Prolight + Sound, is also positive about the increased focus on moving images at this year’s trade fair. She thanks the BVFK for its great support and is looking forward to presenting the spectacular new area to the Prolight + Sound audience in March.

Focus on promoting young talent: Future Talents Day at the Image Creation Hub
We are very happy to be focussing even more on the important topic of moving images this year. Thanks to the great support of the BVFK, a spectacular new area has been created and we can hardly wait to present it to the Prolight + Sound audience in March.

Promoting young talent also plays an important role in the Image Creation Hub. The “Future Talents Day” on 22 March will therefore focus on the importance of training and further education in the camera industry. Experts from the hub will be offering professional training sessions that are specially tailored to the needs of career starters, trainees, educational institutions and interested individuals. These training sessions aim to impart practical skills and in-depth knowledge of camera technology and practice.
In addition to the training sessions, information and counselling also play an important role. At the Camera-Campus stand, visitors will receive comprehensive information on further training opportunities in the industry. This is an excellent opportunity to find out about career paths, specialised courses and qualifications that are essential for a successful career in the field of camera technology.
The Future Talents Day emphasises the commitment of Prolight + Sound and the Image Creation Hub to actively promote and support young talent in the event and television production industry. With this focus, the trade fair makes an important contribution to the development of future talent and to securing the next generation of skilled workers in a constantly changing and technologically advanced field.
