Prolight + Sound 2025 opens its doors in Frankfurt am Main from April 8 to 11, once again offering professionals from the event, film and television industry a first-class platform for innovation and further training. A central highlight of the fair is the Image Creation Hub. The response to the area at last year’s fair was extremely positive. In collaboration with the German Federal Association of Television Cameramen (BVFK), the area is now being expanded to offer even more opportunities for practical learning and networking.
A center for image design and camera technology
The Image Creation Hub, which covers around 740 m², focuses on the entire production process of moving image content. From the latest camera and lighting technologies to innovative tracking systems and exciting workshops – here, visitors can experience the future of image creation up close. The centerpiece is the Speakers Area, designed in the style of a modern television studio and offering an extensive program of lectures and live demonstrations.

Practical workshops and lectures by renowned experts
In daily short workshops and live demonstrations, industry professionals will share practical knowledge on current topics such as lighting design, broadcast cameras, infinity lighting and automatic tracking systems. Frank Trautmann, 1st chairman of the BVFK, emphasizes the importance of camera work:

Camera College: Further training at the highest level
Image Creation Hub at Prolight + Sound 2024
A special addition to the Image Creation Hub is the Camera College. This training format is aimed at cameramen, film professionals and those interested in technology who want to deepen their knowledge. In the quiet atmosphere of a seminar room (Portalhaus, Level 1, Room Transparenz 1), high-profile instructors such as Nils Jahnke and Helmut Wagenpfeil teach practical techniques related to camera work, lighting, and the latest developments in video and film technology. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the course.
This year’s workshops will focus on the following topics, among others:
- The topic of gimbals (including practical application): When is it the right device for a production? What movement modes are there? What problems can arise during shooting?
- “Vertical format – always the best format?”: To what extent does shooting in portrait format have its advantages and benefits? What is an aspect ratio? What needs to be considered when shooting and editing?
Camera College will be taking place from April 8 to 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Speakers Area: practical workshops and live demonstrations
The Speakers Area, designed to look like a TV studio, offers daily short workshops and informative presentations by experienced professionals. Participants can learn about AI-controlled PTZ cameras, find out about drone licenses, experience live demos with Steadicam, Polecam and Gimbal, or deepen their knowledge of the ARRI TRINITY and ARTEMIS systems. The workshop on the latter will be led by Curt Schaller, who recently received an Oscar for the concept, design and development of the TRINITY 2 system.

BVFK panels and talks: a focus on current industry topics
Every day, exciting talks and panels with renowned industry professionals will take place on the studio floor of the Image Creation Hub, led by moderator Anke Seeling. Among the guests will be legendary cameraman Jost Vacano (Das Boot, The Neverending Story, Total Recall).
The talks will cover current topics in the industry, including:

- Movement of drones, cranes & co: safety and technical challenges

The Image Creation Hub’s exhibitor area brings together well-known manufacturers and industry associations to present the latest technologies and innovations. Among the exhibitors are the German Society of Cinematographers (BVK), Bundesverband Filmschnitt Editor (BFS), D4-Entertainment GmbH, Faderlux, FilmJump e.V. , R-T-S, Silbersalz and Tectum.
In addition, a number of companies will be presenting themselves with their own stands, including Canon, Cine Brands Munich, Dedo Weigert Film, Machen und Tun, MLS | magic light + sound GmbH, MOO Video Productions, Sigma, Solectric (with DJI, OBSBOT, Z-CAM) and Transcontinenta.
