mediaengineer is the engineering office of Jens Mueller (Dipl. Ing.). He works as a technical planner, operator, and lighting designer for well-known companies in the field of trade fairs, theatre and events. In addition to project-based work, he wrote the “Handbuch der Lichttechnik” (Handbook of Lighting Technology) and is considered to be the founding father of the successful CAD application AutoSTAGE.
1. AutoSTAGE is a CAD application that designers and planners of event technology like to use. What advantages does the software offer?
Our customers use AutoSTAGE in order to draw up professional plans for the set up and operation for all kinds of events in the shortest amount of time. We use intelligent symbols that save a wide variety of additional information, e.g. weight. One particular highlight is that we are able to offer integrated static calculations in a drawing.
2. You have been active in the industry for years, have already carried out the technical realisation of many events – what are some of your highlights and does anything really stick out for you?
The projects abroad were very interesting where the well-known “German” technology had to be combined with the local conditions, which occasionally presented a real challenge.
3. Is this your first year at the PLS? What are you looking forward to at the fair in particular?
This year will be our eighth time at PLS. Like every year, the fair is a meeting place for the whole industry. Naturally it is also important for us to meet our clients personally, who otherwise we might only have spoken to on the telephone or been in contact with via email. Many people you only see one a year, and only at Prolight + Sound!
4. What is waiting for the visitors of Prolight + Sound 2016 at AutoSTAGE’s stand?
With AutoSTAGE 2016 we’ve had a new product for a couple months with which we can offer our clients new and exciting possibilities. Up till now, AutoSTAGE could only be used as a plug-in for the CAD platforms AutoCAD or BricsCAD. With AutoSTAGE 2016 we can offer our clients a complete package with which you don’t need AutoCAD or BricsCAD anymore.
