What trends awaits the event industry? What are the new points of emphasis in this field in the coming years? This and other questions were elements of the study media and event technology: structures, expectations, and trends, which was initiated by the Frankfurt Fair and the VPLT (Verband für Medien- und Veranstaltungstechnik).
This is why the Gesellschaft für Konsumforschung GfK (Association for Consumer Research) carried through an online interview with 222 leading members of the industry. In our overview of the studys results, we will show which direction media and event technology will develop in the future.
Study shows positive picture of the industry
Almost 50 percent of all respondents see a great potential for the event market and forecast a growth in sales in the coming years, especially in the area of LED and OLED technologies.
The event industry is a very diverse field after all, in encompasses events of differing size and execution. Naturally various elements play an important role in the organization. It is correspondingly difficult to maintain an overview. In order to best appreciate and sort market developments, 78 percent of respondents value Prolight + Sound as a source of information.
For the environment the industry acts more diligently
The reduction of Co² emissions and energy reducing behaviors are the topics that are increasingly the topics increasingly of interest to the event industry. 60 percent of the respondents answered that they use so-called sustainable event technology for the improvement of the climate. For experts this includes the use of energy efficient products, but also the application of smaller and lighter equipment in order to reduce transport expenses.
Quality comes before the price
“Cost reduction as the highest goal” this motto is ostensibly not true in the event industry. In fact, 88 percent of all respondents name quality and high performance as the most important criteria for acquiring new products. But even the competence of the manufacturer and its technical support are an important characteristic for 82 percent. In fact, following a reliable “After Sales Support” and a high user friendliness is after the price-performance ratio in fifth place among decisive purchase characteristics.
