After a long break, MAGIC FX is making a highly anticipated return to Prolight + Sound 2025 – bringing exciting innovations along. The Dutch company is renowned for its spectacular special effects and will showcase its groundbreaking ECO2JET in Frankfurt. In this interview, Desiré Verberne, Team Lead Marketing at MAGIC FX, discusses the decision to return to the trade show, the impressive booth concept in Hall 12.1, and the latest advancements in sustainable effects.
After a long break, you are returning to Prolight + Sound. What motivated you to exhibit again in 2025?
It was a long time ago we were present at Prolight + Sound or other trade shows. Which means it was also a long time ago we met a lot of our customers and other attendees in real life. We feel like this is the moment to meet and connect with each other again during Prolight + Sound. That’s why we welcome all visitors in our booth to have a drink and a chat at our bar and hospitality area and to discover our newest products. We can’t wait to bring our renewed energy and excitement to the Messe Frankfurt!
Your new booth in Hall 12.1, covering 143 sqm, is impressive. What can visitors expect when they visit your stand?

You are introducing an innovative product that promises a new era of special effects. Could you tell us more about the technology behind it?
The ECO2JET is our latest innovation and a real game-changer. We call it a ‘new era of smoke’ since this machines blows big white smoke clouds like CO2 but without the use of CO2. It’s the perfect alternative to CO2. A real revolution!
Basically, the ECO2JET is a smoke machine but with a more powerful heating element for much more output. The biggest innovation is a high-speed turbo fan combined with a custom-made nozzle, which ensures that the smoke is blown 12 meters (indoor and outdoor) into the air at a tremendous speed. That sets the ECO2JET apart from other smoke machines on the market.
The all-electric smoke effect is as fast and explosive as CO2 but does not depend on humidity. The effect of the ECO2JET is consistent, you’ll get big white smoke clouds no matter what circumstances. For example, at an outdoor festival when the sun is shining, smoke from the ECO2JET still reaches 12 meters, whereas CO2 sometimes hardly reaches 4 meters.
After introducing the world’s first TÜV certified, biodegradable confetti, this MAGIC FX product is again a real game-changer for the events industry and the next step in making special FX more sustainable.

Your new smoke system operates without CO₂ bottles. What advantages does this offer for event organizers and the environment?
There are a few advantages of using the ECO2JET in comparison with CO2 products/gear.
Using the ECO2JET is more environmentally friendly than the CO2JET, because it eliminates the need for CO2 gas cylinders, thereby reducing its contribution to the greenhouse effect and climate change. In addition, producing CO2 requires energy, often from burning fossil fuels, which leads to greenhouse gas emissions and contributes to global warming.
The use of ECO2JETS also eliminates the need for dangerous goods handling and heavy transport, leading to lower CO2 emissions from transport operations. When using multiple CO2 jets, the space, transport and costs of CO2 bottles are inevitably huge and they increase every year.
The ECO2JET only needs a 5L fluid can with specially designed smoke fluid (for indoor or outdoor use). One 5L can produces 13 minutes of effect which is equivalent to 13 large CO2 gas bottles. That’s why it replaces the use of countless CO2 gas bottles at events.
Event producers are pleased that the costs and use of CO2 gas cylinders are eliminated. It also helps them to focus more on sustainability and taking care of the planet. The ECO2JET really fits into that environmentally friendly vision.
An added extra is the low noise effect, which makes the experience much more pleasant. The ECO2JET produces significantly less noise compared to a CO2 jet. With its lower noise output of 95db, compared to the 115db of traditional CO2 jets, it enhances the overall show experience for both artists and spectators.
How does your innovation differ from other common solutions in the special effects market?
Our ECO2JET works with a heating element, a high speed turbo fan and a specially designed nozzle to really create a CO2 effect. It’s a smoke machine like no other. We saw a growing popularity of our MAGIC FX SMOKEJET as an alternative to CO2, although the effect cannot compete with the speed and impact of CO2.
With our new ECO2JET smoke machine, we deliver a product that rivals the advantages of CO2, but without its drawbacks (like high costs, negative image, large use of space on and around a stage and dependent of humidity). The ECO2JET is a compact and easy-to-install solution, which reduces logistical challenges and is a more environmentally friendly as well as a cost-efficient alternative to CO2.
The additional accessories such as the 360-degree bracket and the attachable fluid can, increase the versatility of the ECO2JET, making it suitable for every event.
