Technological innovations are currently changing our lives at a rapid pace. And with the rapid development of increasingly competent AI solutions, job profiles and the demands placed on employees are also constantly changing. But one thing remains unchanged: the future of the industry depends on the quality of its young talent. And because this also applies to the event industry, Prolight + Sound places a special focus on promoting young talent and offers an ideal platform for professionals looking for a job at one of the sector’s largest European job markets.
Sustainability in the Future Hub with the Lycée Francais Victor Hugo
The Future Hub in Hall 11.0 is at the centre of the extensive career and training offerings at Prolight + Sound and is the ideal contact point for the professionals of today and tomorrow. The area is divided into the Career Centre, the Campus, the start-up area and a networking lounge for making valuable industry contacts. In line with its focus on sustainable event management, Prolight + Sound is also setting a strong example for energy efficiency and environmental protection in the Future hab with its resource-saving structure and green electricity supply.
The idea of sustainability also inspired participation in a joint project with the Lycée Victor Hugo in Frankfurt. As part of the collaboration, plants that are used as decorative or meta-story elements in the Future Hub will be given a permanent place in the school’s garden after the show. The campaign not only emphasises Prolight + Sound’s commitment to sustainable solutions in the industry, but also aims to raise pupils’ awareness of the different dimensions and creativity of the event industry.
Diversity of training and further education opportunities
Interested parties can find out about training and further education opportunities in the event industry on the campus. Renowned educational institutions will present their programmes and provide advice on career planning. In cooperation with the VPLT (Association for Media and Event Technology), the Berlin University of Applied Sciences, the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, the RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau, the Technical University of Central Hesse and the Hanover University of Applied Sciences will be represented.
The Filmhaus Frankfurt, Macromedia and the GPB Berlin also presented themselves and their educational programmes in cooperation with the BVFK (Federal Association of Television Cinematographers). The SAE Institute Frankfurt offered an insight into its training and further education programme as well as study courses in the field of media production.
The educational institution at which numerous dual students at the trade fair have been enjoying a first-class academic education for years will also be presenting itself: DHBW Ravensburg. At the university’s stand, both renowned lecturers and students will provide information in person about the wide range of courses on offer as well as everyday university life and student life.
In the Campus Area, visitors will therefore find all the important information in concentrated form: from specialised degree programmes in the event sector, further education or training and courses.
Counteracting the shortage of skilled labour
The Career Centre offers ideal opportunities for people at the start of their career as well as those who already have extensive professional experience and are looking for new challenges in the event industry. Here, up-and-coming talent and experienced professionals have the chance to make direct contact with leading companies that currently have vacancies. With over 1,600 job-seeking event professionals, last year’s Prolight + Sound proved to be an attractive platform for recruiting qualified personnel in the event industry.
Renowned companies such as Europa-Park, Robinson Club, House of Audio, Leyendecker, Aventem, Sinus-Eventtechnik and Riedel Communications have already announced that they will be on the lookout for new employees at this year’s trade fair.
Get to know the industry’s newcomers in the Start-up Area
Are you looking for new ideas and innovative solutions? Are you interested in young companies that bring a breath of fresh air to the industry with their creative approaches? Then the Start-up Area is the right place for you! This is where companies from the event industry showcase young, promising brands that have only been on the market for five years or less. Their pioneering products and ideas, which have the potential to play a decisive role in shaping the future of the event industry, play the main role. Brands represented include Audio Zenit, Power on Tools, Dexa, Limbic Media and many more.
Relax and socialise in the Networking Lounge
Enjoy a break from the hustle and bustle of the trade fair and make valuable contacts at the same time? Nothing is better for this than our newly designed Networking Lounge: its urban garden design and comfortable seating create the perfect place to relax, network and exchange ideas in an inviting atmosphere. In this lounge, discussions will take place on important topics for the future of the industry and impetus will be given for a more environmentally friendly event industry.
22 March 2024: Future Talents Day
Prolight + Sound has traditionally attached great importance to promoting young talent in the field of event technology. This conviction led to the creation of the Future Talents Day, which this year is being held primarily in cooperation with the BDKV (German Association of the Concert and Event Industry) and the EVVC (European Association of Event Centres). The programme is aimed specifically at school pupils, trainees and students and aims to provide guidance and advice on all aspects of starting a career. Through exclusive tours and interactive workshops, aspiring talents gain deep insights into the various professional fields of the event industry.
Mira Wölfel, Director Prolight + Sound, emphasises the importance of early enthusiasm for the industry as part of her mission:
I believe that the passion for our industry should be ignited at a young age – that is our mission, our goal. That’s why the Future Talents Day at Prolight + Sound is aimed specifically at school pupils, students and trainees. With a varied programme, we want to show them the diverse career opportunities in the event industry and actively bring them into contact with companies.
