With the ProAudio College, Prolight + Sound is further enhancing its profile as a central training platform for the audio industry. In cooperation with the Association of German Audio Technicians (Verband Deutscher Tonmeister – VDT), a varied programme is being created, aimed at both experienced professionals and young talents.
Technical expertise and creative solutions for sophisticated audio productions
The focus is on hands-on workshops, in-depth training sessions and professional exchange formats tailored to the specific needs of live sound, studio work and theatre sound reinforcement. The focus is not only on teaching technical standards, but also on promoting a sound understanding of acoustic relationships, digital systems and creative solutions in the professional audio environment. The ProAudio College provides a valuable platform for knowledge transfer, networking and industry development.
“We are delighted to have gained a partner for the new ProAudio College in the Bildungswerk des Verbandes deutscher Tonmeister, which has been an international force in the organisation and implementation of specialised teaching events in the studio and sound reinforcement sector for many years,” says Mira Wölfel, Director Prolight + Sound.
Technical content from the IGVW standard and acoustic challenges
The programme is based on the sound content of the IGVW SQQ7 standard, supplemented by the latest developments in sound reinforcement technology and the practical challenges of everyday working life, with a special focus on applications in the theatre. Stage productions in particular place high demands on sound quality, signal routing and room acoustics, as technical precision and creative design must intermesh seamlessly. The training modules therefore include mixing console programming, taking into account aspects such as latency, monitoring and scenic dynamics. Students will also gain an insight into the functionality and design of digital audio systems, from signal processing to networking. Another key topic is the use of active room acoustic systems, which can be used flexibly in complex or acoustically challenging spaces. With its practical structure, the programme provides valuable support in the planning and implementation of modern sound reinforcement concepts at a high professional level.
Setting the pace for the audio industry on the Main Stage
On the Main Stage (Hall 11.0), visitors can look forward to a series of high-calibre keynotes offering exciting insights into the latest developments and forward-looking topics in the industry. In ‘AI: The Stage is Yours’, Dr Uve Samuels will demonstrate how artificial intelligence is redefining the customer experience in the events industry. In ‘Entertaining Change’, Sven Ortel, Professor of Practice at Arizona State University, shows how the interplay of technology and storytelling can create powerful, immersive experiences. Christo Squier and Chris Ball present an unusual combination of science and sound art in ‘Immersive Physics’: Translating Cosmic Mysteries into Artistic Expression’. In ‘Guitarist as Show Effect?’, Yasi Hofer presents an inspiring reflection on the visibility and staging of female musicians in a live context.
With the ProAudio College and the high-calibre keynote programme, Prolight + Sound 2025 reaffirms its commitment to professional excellence, practical training and forward-looking knowledge transfer within the ProAudio community. With its targeted combination of technical training, inspiring lectures and interdisciplinary dialogue, the trade fair creates a space where industry professionals and up-and-coming talents can meet, learn from each other and develop new ideas for the audio world. Once again, the event underlines its role as the central meeting place for innovation, expertise and networking in professional audio.
