Construction has been taking place over the past two year at the Frankfurt Messe fair grounds – Hall 12 is to become a modern and spacious exhibition space for companies and firms. Following an intensive construction phase, Hall 12 has now been officially opened. This ceremony was attended by 2,000 representatives from the realms of politics, media and business to celebrate the end of the final developmental phase of the vacant space on the west side of the fair grounds belonging to Messe Frankfurt.
Messehalle 12 – modern & innovative concept
Spread over an area of around 34,000 square meters, the new hall offers many opportunities for exhibitors to present their products and innovations in a variety of ways. The new building has already passed its first test: Hall 12 was utilized as an exhibition venue for the 25th annual Automechanica fair. Sustainability was also kept in mind during the planning. For example, 5,300 solar modules were installed on the roof, covering a total area of 9,000 square meters. This means that energy corresponding to the annual usage of 241 four-person households can be produced. Not least thanks to the transport system consisting of walkways and escalators – the three-kilometer long Via Mobile – that is completely covered and enclosed, trade fair participants, exhibitors, and organizers can easily reach all halls on the exhibition grounds. This infrastructure offers short, easy distances between individual building and is perfect for catching a short breather from the hectic of everyday life at the fair, especially for visitors.
„We have constructed a modern hall that can be used in a variety of ways, the transport design provides a clear and logistically ideal visitor guidance system,” said Wolfgang Marzin, President and CEO of Messe Frankfurt, during the inaugural festivities.
Construction work at the trade fair on the home stretch
Over the last twenty years, Messe Frankfurt has implemented numerous measures to realize the master plan for modernization and quality improvement. Uwe Behm, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt, recently noticed that the master plan is currently “on the home stretch.” A total of around one billion euros will have been invested in the modernization concept for the exhibition grounds by the end of the project. Future plans include the new construction of Hall 5, the technical upgrading of Hall 6 and the revitalization of the Congress Center.
