Lights enchant. Especially in the cold season, when it gets dark early in the evening and nature seems a little mystical. The Irish outdoor light festival Wonderlights has multiplied this magical effect of light and nature. The result is the first multisensory outdoor trail.
At the end of October, the 5-star Palmerstown House Estate near the Irish capital Dublin shone in an unprecedented light. Sparkling forest creatures and Irish folklore heroes lined the two-kilometre-long promenade along the extensive forests at the manor house. In addition to the more than three metre high illuminated swans, owls, deer and unicorns, visitors also discovered laser installations and a water feature of superlatives. As if by magic, colourful fish danced across the water and an orca whale made its rounds.
Hydroshield from Laserworld
Behind this magic was sophisticated technology: a hydroshield from Laserworld. It is a semicircular “water fountain” which is used as a projection surface for impressive laser, video and light installations.
The special feature of Hydroshields is that they are produced from the bottom in a semi-circle upwards, while with classic water screens the water drops fall from the top downwards. Hydroshields consist of a special 180 degree flat nozzle combined with a powerful pump system. The construction above the water is therefore essential.
Wonderlights will return
The impressive journey through the illuminated forest ended with a fair where the children could ride on a merry-go-round and where they were served hot drinks and snacks.
Wonderlights took place for the first time this year. The response was so great that a new date has already been set: from 27 December 2019 to 4 January 2010, a second edition of the light spectacle will take place in the Palmerstown House Estate by popular demand.
Laserworld has been an exhibitor at Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt for many years. For the 25th anniversary of the fair in spring 2020 Laserworld will again present its latest products.
