Prolight + Sound celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2025 and puts the spotlight on theatre and stage technology. In keeping with the anniversary, the theatre and stage technology area will shine in a new light with a revised concept.
Why theatre and stage technology is so important
Theatre and stage technology has a permanent place at Prolight + Sound. With Europe’s most comprehensive offering in this area, the trade fair attracts decision-makers, planners and technicians from the international theatre community every year. As early as 2024, almost 50 percent of trade visitors stated that they were particularly interested in theatre and stage technology. No wonder: from innovative truss systems and digital control solutions to multifunctional stage floors – the trade fair is a showcase for the future of the industry.
New concept for more innovation and networking
ProStage impressions from Prolight + Sound 2024
For the 30th anniversary of Prolight + Sound in 2025, the trade fair is focusing on a completely new concept for the theatre and stage technology sector based on four central pillars: Exhibition, Education, Knowledge Transfer and Networking. This will make the event not only a platform for the presentation of innovative products, but also a place for dialogue between generations, industry experts and trade visitors.
A special highlight is the redesign of the theatre and stage technology area. Not only will the latest technologies and solutions be exhibited here, but also practice-orientated seminars and workshops developed in collaboration with leading industry associations. Formats such as the new Theatre Stage, which offers space for presentations and discussions, and the interactive Theatre Talk, where exhibitors can talk directly to trade visitors, will make the trade fair even more interactive and target group-specific.
In addition, the Theatre Café creates a relaxed space for informal discussions and networking. This concept is complemented by the free Guided Tours, which offer visitors a structured and compact overview of the latest innovations. These guided tours place a special focus on the technical and planning aspects of products that are important for the industry.

New formats at a glance: More visibility for your innovations
Prolight + Sound 2025 is introducing numerous new formats in the field of theatre and stage technology.
- Theatre Stage: The Theatre Stage offers you the opportunity to engage directly with the trade audience in presentations and talks. Take the opportunity not only to present your solutions, but also to answer questions and get feedback.
- Theatre Talk: The new Theatre Talk is an interactive format in which exhibitors and trade visitors discuss at eye level. Exhibitors present their products in a focused setting and demonstrate their expertise in direct dialogue.
- Guided Tours: Guided tours of the trade fair offer a targeted platform for particularly innovative products. With a duration of just one hour, participants receive a compact overview of the most exciting solutions. These tours are free of charge, which increases the number of participants and has met with great interest in recent years.
- Happy Hour on the Theatre Stage: From Tuesday to Thursday, Prolight + Sound invites you to Happy Hour – an opportunity to talk to potential partners in a relaxed atmosphere.
- Theatre Café: The new Theatre Café is the ideal place to chat with customers or colleagues over a coffee. A pleasant environment and culinary offerings create the perfect setting for business discussions.
- Community Nights: The evening events in exclusive Frankfurt locations are another highlight. The “30 Years of PLS” birthday party on 9 April 2025 in particular offers a great opportunity to network with industry players from all over the world.
Three central themes at Prolight + Sound 2025
Prolight + Sound 2025 will focus on three central themes, which will be addressed both in specialist programmes and in innovative product solutions:
- MultiTech: Flexible and smart – multifunctional technologies and their significance for the theatre industry
- FutureScapes: Immersion and AI – The use of immersive technologies and artificial intelligence in modern stage productions.
- ProGreen: Sustainability in the event industry – New approaches for more energy efficiency and environmental awareness.

Promoting young talent and career opportunities
The shortage of skilled labour remains a challenge for the event industry. Prolight + Sound addresses this with the Future Hub in Hall 11.0, where educational institutions, companies and start-ups present their programmes. Highlights:
- Career Centre: Direct contact with companies with vacancies
- Future Talents Day (11 April 2025): A special day for young talent to find out about career paths in the industry.
